Five Tips to Eat Healthier

So, you have decided to start living a healthier life, but you may be wondering where to start (and with good reason, too). With the Internet right at our fingertips, we’re always on information overload when it comes to eating healthily. Allow us to give you some quick and simple tips on leading a healthier and nutritious life.

Eat clean

We’ve heard this time and time again, but that’s because it’s the truth! When eating nutritiously, it’s important to reach for the organic, naturally grown food instead of the sugary sweet, processed garbage that we so frequently tend to rely on for any quick hunger fix. Yes, it’s much easier and cheaper to buy foods made in factories, but when it comes to your health, wouldn’t you rather spend a little extra on the organically-grown foods? If your answer is “absolutely”, your body will certainly thank you in the long run.

Taste the rainbow

No, we’re not talking about skittles right now. In fact, we’re talking about the complete opposite. By “taste the rainbow”, we are referring to tasting all of the different and colorful fruits and vegetables that are available to us. Be versatile. Pick what’s in season. Try something new. Fruits and vegetables are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals and help put us on the right track to a healthy lifestyle. Next time you’re in the produce section of the grocery store, go ahead and experiment with the beautiful and delicious colors of the rainbow. We bet your life could use a little color!

Portions, portions, portions

So often, we hear of people who nearly starve themselves in an attempt to lose weight, and it makes us cringe! An important factor to dieting is not about skipping meals and malnourishing our bodies, it’s about learning how to control our portions. Everything in moderation, friends! The next time you’re wondering just how much food to consume, we recommend checking out this hand-y guide. See what we did there?

Meal prepping

Meal prep days might be one of our favorite days of the week. Set aside some time on a Sunday to plan out your meals for the upcoming work week. Think fruits, vegetables, and Tupperware! Mornings during the work week can get hectic, and, more often than not, we find ourselves running out the door without a lunch. However, by taking a couple of hours on a lazy Sunday night, we’re guaranteed to have five healthy lunches ready to grab on the go!

Take it slowly

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was your diet. Take pride in the fact that you’ve decided to eat mindfully and live a healthier lifestyle. Research shows habits take approximately two weeks to stick, so take your time and don’t allow yourself to get frustrated. You’re on your way to a healthier and nutritiously-balanced you, and that’s certainly something to be proud of. Each day is an improvement, and each day you are one step closer.
