DIY Workouts from Home (Without Any Equipment!)
With the pandemic adding a wrench in our plans and making many of us wary of going out, many of you have switched to virtual training and we are so grateful for that! Your support during these difficult times is what has allowed our small business to stay open and our staff to support themselves. From all of us, thank you!
We'd like to share some tips and tricks for virtual training that we've picked up along the way.
Not everyone has access to equipment while training from home, but with a little creativity, there's no end to the possibilities!
Here are our Top Three DIY equipment "hacks."
1. Backpacks and Other Bags
Filling a backpack with some books, water bottles— or, honestly, anything— is a great way to create an impromptu weight! Once loaded up to an appropriate level, you can hug the backpack and use it for squats, hip hinges, walking lunges, or sit-ups!
2. Steps and Staircases
Your stairs are a useful item when it comes to fitness training. We've had our virtual clients use them for step-ups, calf raises, and rear foot elevated split squats. Try walking up and down them a few times for some cardio when it's snowy outside!
3. Door Frames
It sounds silly, but door frames are great for lots of exercise! You can hold onto the doorknob or frame to do TRX squats. You can stand in the middle and use the sides for balance during split squats. You can even place your hands on the sides and use the frame for chest stretches— a very important stretch during the "work from home" movement.
There you go! These are three great and sometimes overlooked DIY workout hacks for when there isn’t any equipment around. Feeling inspired? Be sure to tag us on Instagram at @bodysoulprovidence if you try one of these at home!
