3 Must-Have Items You Need In Your Home Gym
Home is where the heart is! Or maybe it’s where the weights are?
Ah, home gyms! Many of us have started one while the rest of us have thought about it. A few zealous go-getters have managed to complete their projects.
As we’re sure you haven’t forgotten, the COVID-19 pandemic shut down most box gyms, studios, clubs, and fitness centers. With nowhere to go and stuck at home, the whole world decided they needed to put together their own home gym.
Our clients who had some home equipment already were able to take up virtual training quite easily. But, those who didn’t already have equipment quickly realized that the world was after fitness gear. Dick’s Sporting Goods sold out of everything. Walmart, same story. Most online vendors were out of stock.
Can’t a guy get a dumbbell?
As the world cautiously returns to normal, gym equipment is coming back in stock. Now is your chance to grab the essentials so that you can train at home when necessary and do homework in between your training sessions.
To help you out, here are our top 3 home gym essentials!
1) A single kettlebell.
The kettlebell is an incredibly versatile tool. You can switch with it, press it, swing it, row it, walk with it. The possibilities are endless! Women should start with an 8kg bell, and men should start with a 16kg bell. Once you’re stronger, moving up a size is appropriate.
2) A doorway TRX.
The TRX is another multipurpose tool. The TRX is great for all sorts of pulling exercises, stretches, push-ups, and the list goes on and on.
3) Elastic mini-bands.
These mini-bands are great because of how easy they are to transport and how much of a workout they can give you. They’re great for warming up the hips and glutes, and they’re great for high-rep bridges for a finisher.
These three things are some of the best bang-for-your-buck pieces to start your home gym. To grab any of these items, we recommend using Perform Better, a local company right here in Rhode Island. We have also provided direct links to the equipment in the text above in the name of supporting small businesses. Once you have a basic setup at home, it will be a breeze for us to do virtual training with you!
